Veedersburg - Elmer Crowder, 86, died at 6:30 p.m. (CDT) Sunday at Lakeview Memorial Hospital, Danville, Ill. He had been in failing health for several years and seriously ill one week. He resided at 113 W. Washington St. with his son, Wallace. Mr. Crowder was born in Indiana May 26, 1883, to James B. and Martha Allen Crowder. He was married in January, 1904, to Artie Wallace who died Feb. 5, 1957. Surviving, in addition to the son with whom he made his home, are five other sons, Ivan of Wallace, Eston of Steamboat, Colo., Freeman of Terre Haute, Harold of Kokomo, and Otis of Bloomingdale; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Lyons of Lafayette and Mrs. Irene Massey of Oakwood, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Dessie Norris of Kingman; 18 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fishero Funeral Home with Rev. Broten Martin officiating. Burial will be in Centennial Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
